Steam Controller

1 SteamController-setup1

This profile uses the Left Joystick horizontal axis for steering, and the vertical axis for throttle.  The two outer pads split these axis.

These pairs are for trim+- and jackplate+- in whatever combination you desire.  They are also duplicated to accommodate how you hold the controller.

Y/Right Trigger is mapped to T
B/Right Grip button is mapped to G
X/Left Trigger is mapped to R
A/Left Grip button is mapped to F

2 SteamController-setup2-LeftPad
Style of Input of the Left Pad is “Joystick Move”, the output is “Left Joystick”, and Output Axis will be “Horizontal Only”.

“High” haptics intensity is a personal preference, there will seem to be more resistance against your finger.

3 SteamController-setup2-LeftPadAdvanced
These are personal preferences; I configured there to be no “Dead Zone” for steering, as the pad has no wobble.  “Linear” response curve is a good starting point.

4 SteamController-setup2-LeftStick
Style of Input of the Left Joystick is “Joystick Move”, the output is “Left Joystick”, and Output Axis will be “both Horizontal & Vertical”.

The click action here is very deliberate and is set to be SPACE for the boat reset function.

5 SteamController-setup2-LeftStickAdvanced
The Dead Zone Shape is “Cross” and size is adjusted to personal preference for using a joystick.

6 SteamController-setup2-RightPad
Style of Input of the Right Pad is “Joystick Move”, the out put is “Left Joystick”and the Output Axis will be “Vertical Only”.

Again, “High” haptics intensity is a personal preference, there will seem to be more resistance against your finger.

7 SteamController-setup2-RightPadAdvanced
These are personal preferences; I configured there to be no “Dead Zone” for steering, as the pad has no wobble.  “Linear” response curve is a good starting point.

“Adaptive Centering” is turned to “On”.  This will let you recenter your finger and start moving the throttle axis up or down from anywhere on the right pad.
